Donde aristócratas excéntricos y árboles medicinales esconden más secretos que una novela de espías
The park is a public space open 24 hours a day all year round, so there are no time restrictions for walking. It can be easily reached on foot or by bicycle from the center of Mali Lošinj, following a pleasant walk of about 15 to 20 minutes.
Entry to the forest and access to the coastal trails are completely free. However, specific services within the area, such as Čikat Aquapark or sunbed rentals in the coves, do have their own fees.
For a relaxed walk enjoying the shade of the pines and the sea views, I recommend setting aside 2 to 3 hours. If you plan to swim in its coves or do sports activities, the visit can easily extend to half a day.
This forest was artificially planted in the late 19th century on the initiative of botanist Ambroz Haračić to protect the island from the wind and improve public health. It is a living testimony to the transformation of Lošinj into a famous destination for health and wellness tourism.
Spring and autumn are ideal for hiking and enjoying the medicinal aromas of the plants without excessive heat. In summer, I suggest going early in the morning or at sunset to see the island’s most famous sunset.
The main seaside promenade along the coast is paved and fairly flat, allowing wheelchairs and strollers to pass. However, some of the more rustic inner trails may present difficulties due to uneven terrain.
Very close by is the town center, where a visit to the fascinating Museum of Apoxyomenos is essential. I also recommend visiting the Lošinj Aromatic Garden to complete your sensory experience of the island.
Bring comfortable shoes, water, and a swimsuit, because swimming in its turquoise waters is irresistible. To avoid missing any detail of the place’s history and botany, I suggest bringing one of our audio guides available at IAudioguia.com.
