Donde un santo rebelde, mármoles viajeros y una torre fantasma esconden más secretos que condenados
The church is generally open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM during the tourist season (May-September). Hours may vary in winter, so we recommend checking with the Umag Tourist Office by calling +385 (0)52 741 363 or visiting their official website. It is easily reached on foot from Umag's historic center.
Admission to the church is free. However, voluntary donations are accepted for the upkeep of the building. If you wish to contribute, you will find donation boxes near the entrance.
A visit takes approximately 30-45 minutes, enough time to appreciate its architecture, the Baroque altar, and the frescoes. If you plan to attend Mass or spend time in reflection, you may stay up to 1 hour.
Built in the 14th century on Roman remains, it houses the relics of Saint Pilgrim, patron saint of Umag. It is a symbol of local religious and cultural identity, with original Romanesque elements and Baroque additions that show its evolution.
We recommend spring (April-June) or autumn (September-October) to avoid crowds. The best times are mornings (9:00-11:00 AM) or afternoons after 4:00 PM. Avoid Sundays and religious holidays during Mass times (10:00 AM and 6:00 PM).
The main entrance has a few steps and the interior has uneven levels. There are no fixed ramps. We recommend that visitors with mobility difficulties contact the parish in advance (+385 (0)52 741 179) to plan their visit.
Within a 5-minute walk: the City Museum (in Bembo Palace), the 13th-century Venetian walls, and the medieval harbor. Complete your route with a stroll through Umag's old town. More information is available in the Istria Cultural Guide.
Respect the dress code (men: no sleeveless shirts / women: shoulders covered), keep quiet during services, and take the opportunity to explore the adjoining cloister with its Gothic arches. Don't forget your camera for the architectural details!
