Audio Guide of Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary

The sanctuary is generally open every day from morning until sunset for personal prayer. If you would like to attend Mass, we recommend checking the latest schedules on its notice board or on the Ploče Tourist Office website before your visit.

Admission to the sanctuary is completely free for all visitors and pilgrims. As is customary in places of worship, voluntary donations are accepted for the upkeep of the site, but they are not required.

For a relaxed visit that includes moments of prayer, contemplation, and a walk around the grounds, we recommend setting aside between 30 and 45 minutes. If you plan to attend the liturgy or explore the architectural details at a leisurely pace, consider allowing a full hour.

This site is a central point of Marian devotion in the region, serving as a spiritual refuge for locals and travelers on the Dalmatian coast. It represents Croatia’s deep Catholic tradition and offers a peaceful contrast to the city’s industrial and port activity.

Spring and autumn are ideal because of the pleasant weather; the month of May is especially beautiful thanks to Marian celebrations. To avoid crowds and find a more contemplative atmosphere, we suggest going early in the morning or on weekdays.

Most of the sanctuary’s main areas and the church are accessible, with ramps or ground-level entrances. However, some outdoor areas or smaller gardens may have uneven terrain, so it is a good idea to go with a companion if using a wheelchair.

Very close by, you should not miss the stunning Baćina Lakes, a natural phenomenon of great beauty. You are also near the Neretva River delta, perfect for enjoying nature and local cuisine after your spiritual visit.

Remember to dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered), as this is a sacred place, and keep silence inside the church. Bring water if you visit in summer, since the heat in the Ploče area can be intense at midday.
