The Jaguar Rescue Center Cahuita is open every day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We do not schedule visits at fixed times, as entry is open and we welcome visitors throughout the day, making it easier for everyone to arrive. You just need to come by.
Admission to the Center is free, but at the end of your visit, we warmly accept and appreciate any donation you would like to make. These contributions help us continue funding the care and rehabilitation of the animals, since as a nonprofit foundation, we depend on the generosity of our visitors.
Although there is no formal guided tour, we recommend allowing at least 1.5 to 2 hours for a rewarding experience. This will let you stroll მშვიდly, observe the animals in their environment, and read the educational information about each species and the conservation projects. If you would like to support us even more, we recommend the volunteer program at this link: Volunteer Program
The Jaguar Rescue Center Cahuita is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of wildlife, with a special focus on education and conservation. Founded by Encar García and Sandro Alviani, its mission is to protect Costa Rica's biodiversity and raise awareness about the importance of living in harmony with nature. More about its history and mission here: Our Story
The best time to visit is during the dry season (December to April), when rain is less frequent. As for the time of day, we suggest visiting early in the morning (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) or in the afternoon (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM), when the heat is less intense and the animals are usually more active.
The Center strives to be as accessible as possible. While most trails and viewing areas are manageable, some areas may have uneven ground or ramps. We recommend contacting the center directly to arrange your visit so they can provide more specific information about the facilities available for people with reduced mobility. You can call: +506 2750 0710.
Cahuita is an amazing place full of nature. Very close by, you can explore Cahuita National Park, known for its beautiful beaches and coral reefs. You can also enjoy Puerto Vargas Beach or take a walk through the town to try the delicious local cuisine and immerse yourself in the Caribbean culture.
Absolutely! We recommend wearing comfortable, lightweight clothing, bringing insect repellent, and most importantly, a camera to capture beautiful moments. Remember to keep quiet near the enclosures so as not to disturb the animals, and avoid using flash. Also, do not forget your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated!
