Audio Guide of the Ostrich Farm

The farm is open every day of the week, generally from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is located just 15 minutes by car from the town center of Villa de Leyva on the road toward Santa Sofía; you can get there easily by following this location on Google Maps.

Admission ranges from 18,000 to 22,000 COP per person, with discounts for children and older adults. The price includes guidance from an expert guide who will allow you to interact safely with the birds and learn fascinating facts about their biology.

The guided visit lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour. It is a dynamic and entertaining tour, ideal for fitting into your itinerary before or after lunch, allowing you to enjoy the rest of Villa de Leyva's attractions without rushing.

It is one of the first breeding farms for these giant birds in Colombia, allowing the study of their adaptation to the tropics. It is a unique educational experience where you will debunk myths about ostriches and understand their behavior in a semidesert environment like that of Boyacá.

I recommend arriving in the morning, around 10:00 a.m., or late in the afternoon. At these times the sun is less intense and the ostriches are usually more active and more willing to come closer so you can feed them and take photos.

The terrain is flat but rural, with dirt paths and grass that can make it a bit difficult for conventional wheelchairs. However, with the help of a companion it is possible to complete most of the tour and see the animals up close.

You are in a strategic location very close to the famous Blue Ponds and the El Fósil Museum. You can plan a perfect route by visiting these three attractions in a single morning or afternoon because of their proximity.

Wear closed, comfortable shoes for walking on dirt, and use a hat or sunscreen since it is an open space. Do not leave without trying some gastronomic curiosity in the farm shop or interacting with the other animals such as the buffalo.
