El pequeño cerro que vio nacer un pueblo y guarda secretos de contrabando, indígenas rebeldes y banderas que nunca se movieron... hasta que alguien se atrevió.
Flag Hill is open all day, but it is recommended to visit between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm for safety and better visibility. You can reach it on foot from downtown Puerto Carreño (20 minutes) or by motorcycle taxi. Check updated hours on the Puerto Carreño City Hall.
Access to the hill is completely free. No ticket or payment is required. However, if you would like to hire a local guide to learn more about its history, optional services are available at varying prices.
The full visit (ascent, walk around, and descent) takes about 1 hour if you go straight through, although we recommend allowing 2 hours to fully enjoy the panoramic views of the Orinoco River and take photos at the viewpoint.
This hill is a local patriotic symbol where a large Colombian flag flies. It was a strategic point during border conflicts and today represents national identity. Its summit offers a view of three countries: Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil.
The best time is during the dry season (December to March). To avoid the intense heat, go early (8:00-10:00 am) or at sunset (4:00-5:30 pm). The sunsets from here are spectacular.
Access involves walking along uneven paths and climbing natural steps. It is not adapted for wheelchairs or people with reduced mobility. Non-slip athletic shoes and basic good physical condition are recommended.
Bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Wear light clothing and a hat. Check the weather before going up (avoid rainy days because the paths become slippery). For a guided tour, contact the Tourism Office: (+57) 311 222 3334
