The park is open every day of the week, generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is strategically located on an island formed by the Fonce River and the Curití stream, just a few minutes’ walk from downtown San Gil.

Access is not free. The entrance fee is very affordable, generally ranging between COP 6,000 and COP 10,000 per person (subject to seasonal changes), which includes use of the facilities and trails.

To fully enjoy the scenery, take photos, and walk calmly beneath the trees, we recommend setting aside between 1 and 2 hours. It is a perfect visit to disconnect from urban noise without leaving the city.

It is an icon of Santander because of its 'gallinero' trees covered in hanging moss known as 'old man’s beard,' creating a unique mystical atmosphere. It was declared a Natural Park in 1985 and is a symbol of San Gil’s identity.

Any time of year is good thanks to San Gil’s mild climate, but mornings (before 10:00 a.m.) offer the best light for photography and a cooler atmosphere. Visiting on weekdays guarantees a calmer and more private experience.

Since you are in San Gil, the 'Tourism Capital of Santander,' you can also visit the historic center, go rafting on the Fonce River, or plan a getaway to the nearby town of Barichara.
