Donde las maderas náufragas guardan historias de piratas, pasiones y un censo que no sumaba
Loma Baptist Church is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but avoid worship times (generally Sunday mornings). We recommend confirming by phone at +57 8 512 3821 or on its official website before visiting.
No, admission is free. However, voluntary donations are accepted for the maintenance of the church. Some private guided tours do have a fee, but you can explore on your own.
We recommend setting aside between 15 and 30 minutes. Although the church is small, it is worth taking the time to admire its wooden architecture, the sea-view lookout, and to photograph its iconic green roof.
It is the oldest Baptist church on the island (founded in 1847) and a symbol of Raizal culture. It stands out for its U.S. pine structure, emerald green roof, and historic pipe organ. It was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 2005.
It is worth visiting year-round, but avoid December to March (rainy season). Early mornings (8–10 a.m.) are ideal: fewer tourists and better light for photos. Sunsets from its lookout are magical.
Accessibility is limited. There are 3 steps at the main entrance and uneven ground at the lookout. If you need assistance, contact +57 8 512 3821 in advance. As an alternative, you can enjoy its panoramic view from the base of the hill.
Five minutes away are The Little Pool (a natural swimming spot with fish), Cliff Jumpers Cove (spectacular cliff diving), and Rocky Cay. In the same hill area, visit the Island House Museum tourist info. You can see everything in less than 1 hour!
1) Wear comfortable shoes: there are cobblestone paths 2) Bring water and sunscreen (nothing is sold on-site) 3) If you visit during a service, keep quiet and dress respectfully 4) Don’t forget cash if you want to support the church with a donation!
