The Market Square of Río de Oro is open Monday to Saturday, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. On Sundays, hours may vary, so we recommend confirming with the Municipal Mayor's Office at +57 8588 0000.

Access is completely free. You only pay if you buy local products such as fruit, handicrafts, or typical regional dishes.

It is recommended to spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring all the stalls, trying local food, and chatting with the vendors.

It has been the commercial heart of Río de Oro since 1950, where rural traditions from Catatumbo are preserved and products harvested in the foothills of the Andes are traded.

From December to March, when there is less rain and fresh coffee and cocoa harvests arrive. Mornings before 10 am are ideal to avoid crowds.

It has main access ramps, but some interior stalls may have uneven levels. For specific details, contact the municipality's Tourism Office on its official website.

Ten minutes away is Saint Joachim Church, a historic heritage site, and Cerro La Cruz Viewpoint with views over the valley. We also recommend trying grilled cachama at the restaurants along the waterfront.

Wear comfortable shoes because of the uneven floors, bring cash for purchases since many stalls do not accept cards, and do not miss trying queso pelá and panela coconut sweets at the 'Mercedes Sweets' stall.
