❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What are the visiting hours of El Ocaso Farm and how can I get there?

The farm is open Monday through Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. To visit, we recommend booking your coffee tour in advance by calling +57 320 1234567 or writing to [email protected]. It is located 15 minutes from downtown Salento by Willys Jeep (traditional transport). More details: Official website.

How much is admission to El Ocaso Farm and what does it include?

The coffee tour costs COP 35,000 per person (2024 price). It includes a guided tour of the plantations, an explanation of the growing process, and a tasting of high-altitude coffee. Children under 8 enter free. You can book here: Online bookings.

How much time is needed to fully enjoy the visit?

The full tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, but we recommend allowing at least 2 and a half hours to leisurely enjoy the scenery, the coffee shop, and the viewpoints. Groups depart every hour until 4:00 pm.

What importance does this farm have for coffee culture?

El Ocaso Farm is historically significant for producing 100% high-altitude Arabica coffee (1,800 meters above sea level) using traditional methods since 1930. It is part of Colombia's Coffee Cultural Landscape, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Its manual harvest preserves centuries-old techniques.

What is the best time of year to visit?

The best time is during the main harvest season (April to June) or the secondary harvest (October to December), when you can experience the full picking process. In the dry season (January-March/July-August), the trails are easier to enjoy. Avoid very rainy afternoons.

Is it accessible for people with reduced mobility?

It has adapted areas such as the café and viewpoints, but the plantation trails are uneven dirt paths with slopes. A wheelchair is available for the main areas. Contact them in advance for assistance (+57 320 1234567).

What other places can I visit near the farm?

Nearby are Cocora Valley (20 min) with its wax palms, the town of Salento (15 min) for handicrafts, and other farms such as Don Eduardo or El Recuerdo. Complete your day with this map: Coffee routes.

What recommendations would you give for the visit?

Wear closed, comfortable shoes (the ground can be wet), bring a light rain jacket, sunscreen, cash (not all areas accept cards), and a camera. At the end, do not forget to buy freshly roasted coffee in the shop—it is exceptional!
