❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What are the opening hours of the Botanical Garden, and how can I get there easily?

The park is open every day of the week, including holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (ticket office closing time), with visitors allowed to stay until 5:00 p.m. It is located at Avenida Centenario No. 15-190 in Calarcá, just a few minutes from Armenia, and you can easily get there by taxi or local public transportation.

How much do tickets to the Butterfly House and Garden cost?

General admission is around COP 50,000 for adults and COP 30,000 for children (ages 2–12) and adults over 60. We recommend checking updated prices and current promotions directly on the official website before your visit.

How much time should I set aside to explore the entire site?

To enjoy the full experience without rushing, we suggest setting aside between 2 and 3 hours. This is ideal for walking the trails, visiting the museum, birdwatching, and immersing yourself in the magic of the Butterfly House.

Why is the Butterfly House at the Quindío Botanical Garden so famous?

It is world-renowned for its impressive butterfly-shaped structure and for housing more than 1,500 butterflies from 30 different native species. In addition, the garden cares for the National Palm Collection, making it a vital sanctuary for biodiversity and ecological conservation in Colombia.

What is the best time of day to see more butterflies?

The best time to visit is in the morning, preferably between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., when the sun makes the butterflies more active and easier to see in flight. If you want to avoid crowds and take better photos, we recommend visiting on weekdays.

Is the tour accessible for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility?

Yes, the Botanical Garden has made efforts to be inclusive, with paved paths and ramps that make most attractions, including the Butterfly House, accessible. It is a family-friendly outing suitable for all ages and physical conditions.

What other tourist attractions can I visit nearby?

Since it is located in Calarcá, you can also visit **Recuca** (Coffee Culture Tour), which is very close by. It is also an excellent starting point for heading to Salento and the Cocora Valley, or visiting the National Coffee Park, all about 30–40 minutes away by car.

What key recommendations should I keep in mind to make the most of my visit?

Wear light clothing and very comfortable walking shoes, and bring insect repellent and sun protection. Please note that, for the biological safety of the species, pets are not allowed inside the grounds.
