❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What are the opening hours of the Aquarium and Sea Museum?

How much do tickets cost to visit the aquarium?

General admission costs COP 18,000 (approximately USD 4.5). Children under 5 enter free. Ask about group promotions at the ticket office.

How much time is needed to tour the entire place?

A full visit takes between 2 and 3 hours. It includes a tour of the marine museum, aquariums with local species, and an interactive exhibit of coastal wildlife.

What importance does this museum have for Santa Marta?

It is the only marine educational center in the Colombian Caribbean, created to conserve native species and raise awareness about ecosystems such as coral reefs. It houses more than 100 native species.

Is it better to visit in the morning or in the afternoon?

We recommend going in the early hours (9 am to 12 pm) to avoid crowds and the strong midday heat. Afternoons are usually busier because of organized tours.

Does the aquarium have wheelchair access?

Yes, it has access ramps and wide corridors for reduced mobility. In the pier areas, assistance is available for boat transfer (please ask in advance).

What other tourist sites are near the aquarium?

A 10-minute walk away are Rodadero Beach and the Bay Promenade. Other must-sees: the Tairona Gold Museum link and excursions to Taganga link.

Do you recommend bringing anything special for the visit?

Yes: biodegradable sunscreen (required for animal contact areas), comfortable shoes for walking among artificial coral displays, and cash for shopping at the local handicrafts store.
