Donde las rocas cuentan secretos milenarios y el Amazonas susurra sus historias olvidadas.
Stone City is open every day from 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is reached from San José del Guaviare by 4x4 vehicle (about 1 hour). We recommend hiring authorized guides. More details at Guaviare Tourism or by calling +57 8 584 2525.
There is no official admission fee, but it is recommended to book a tour with local operators (from COP 150,000 per person). It includes transportation and a guide. Check options at Guaviare Aventura.
It is recommended to allow 3 to 4 hours to explore the main viewpoints and rock formations. This includes time for photos and enjoying the Amazonian landscape.
They are 1.2-billion-year-old sedimentary rocks eroded by wind and rain. Considered a sacred place by the Guayabero people, some caves contain rock paintings that point to ancient rituals.
The best season is during the dry months (December to March and July to August), when the trails are easier to walk and there is less chance of heavy rain that can make access difficult.
The terrain is uneven, with rocky trails and steep slopes. It is not recommended for wheelchairs. Visitors with limited mobility will need assistance. Check with operators such as Selva Tours for personalized options.
Nearby highlights include Natural Bridges (sandstone rock formations), Caño Cristales (the five-colored river, in season from June to November), and Cerro Azul with Indigenous pictographs. More info at Colombia Travel.
