La Torre del Tambor se erige como un emblema del pasado imperial en el corazón de Tianjin, donde el eco de antiguos tambores aún resuena en la memoria colectiva de la ciudad.
Drum Tower (Gu Lou) is generally open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 16:30 (closed on Mondays). Access is through the main entrances to the pedestrian area of Tianjin Old City.
Entry to Drum Tower is usually free for all visitors. However, you must present a valid passport or identity document at the ticket office to collect your free entry ticket.
We recommend allowing between 45 minutes and one hour for the visit. This will give you enough time to see the interior exhibitions, climb to the top for the views, and appreciate the architecture without rushing.
This building, originally from the Ming dynasty and later rebuilt, marks the geographical center of ancient Tianjin. Historically, its bell was used to announce the time and alert the population in emergencies.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are ideal because of the pleasant weather. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds or at sunset to see the structure illuminated, which is spectacular for photography.
Access to the base and surrounding area is convenient, but climbing to the upper levels of the tower may be difficult for people with reduced mobility because of the steep stairs and the lack of modern elevators in the historic structure.
You are just a few steps from the famous Ancient Culture Street, a must-see place for handicrafts. You can also visit the Temple of the Queen of Heaven or explore Tianjin's Italian Style Town, a short taxi ride away.
Wear comfortable shoes because the surrounding area is pedestrian-friendly and perfect for walking. Also, take the opportunity to bargain politely in the antiques and souvenir markets around the base of the tower.
