¿Sabías que un monje loco salvaba miles de peces aquí cada día, justo al lado del mercado donde los vendían para la cena?
Fangsheng Bridge is outdoors and always accessible, as it is an integral part of the water town of Zhujiajiao. No specific ticket is required to cross the bridge, although some attractions within the town do require admission. Enjoy the view at any time of day!
Good news! Walking across and admiring Fangsheng Bridge is completely free. However, keep in mind that some museums and gardens in Zhujiajiao do require tickets. You can check pass options on Zhujiajiao’s official tourism website to plan your visit: Zhujiajiao Tickets.
Fangsheng Bridge itself can be appreciated in about 15 to 30 minutes, whether you are crossing it or taking photos. However, since it is part of the charming town of Zhujiajiao, we recommend setting aside at least 4 to 5 hours to explore the rest of the town, its canals, and its shops.
Fangsheng Bridge, whose name means 'releasing lives,' is the largest stone bridge in Zhujiajiao, originally built in 1587. It is considered a symbol of longevity and good fortune and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, bearing witness to the town’s rich history. Its five-arch architecture is characteristic of ancient Chinese bridges.
To avoid the crowds and enjoy a more peaceful experience, we recommend visiting Fangsheng Bridge early in the morning or at sunset, when the light is most beautiful for photos. As for the best time of year, spring and autumn offer more pleasant temperatures and less rain, making the walk more comfortable.
Because of its historic design and the presence of steps, direct access across Fangsheng Bridge can be difficult for wheelchairs or strollers. However, there are level walkways and paths along the canals that offer excellent views of the bridge from different angles around the town.
Since you are in the heart of Zhujiajiao, there is plenty to discover. Just a short walk away, you will find Kezhi Garden, a beautiful traditional garden, or you can take a boat ride along the canals to see the town from another perspective. You can also explore the many shops, tea houses, and restaurants surrounding the bridge. For a complete guide, you can check Zhujiajiao’s attractions map.
Absolutely! We suggest wearing comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to explore the whole town. If you enjoy photography, do not forget your camera, as the views are spectacular. Also, consider taking a canal boat ride; it is a unique experience and gives you another perspective of the town and the bridge. And do not forget to try the local cuisine!
