Donde las nubes son actoras, los pinos son esculturas y la roca tiene más historia que los libros
Huangshan National Park is open year-round, with entry hours generally from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and the cable cars operating from about 7:10 AM to 4:30 PM. The best way to get there is by bus from Huangshan City (Tunxi) to Tangkou Town, and then taking a shuttle to the trailheads; check the official website for updated schedules.
The admission fee is about 230 RMB (approx. €30) in high season (April to November) and 150 RMB in low season. It includes access to the main park, but cable cars cost extra (80–90 RMB each way); children and seniors get discounts, so check the official Huangshan website.
It is recommended to spend at least 2–3 days exploring the main peaks, trails, and sunrise or sunset views without rushing. One day is possible for a quick visit, but staying overnight on the mountain lets you better enjoy the mists and changing light.
Huangshan, or Yellow Mountain, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990, famous for its granite peaks, twisted pines, strange rock formations, and 'seas of clouds,' inspiring traditional Chinese shanshui painting for centuries. It has been a spiritual and artistic retreat since the Tang dynasty.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal for mild weather, fewer crowds, and vibrant colors, avoiding winter cold or summer heat. Sunrise and sunset offer the most magical views with mist and sunlight.
Accessibility is limited due to the thousands of steep steps on the trails; there are no fully adapted routes or elevators in most areas. Cable cars help with going up and down, but visitors with mobility issues are advised to choose lower viewpoints or consult specialized guides.
Nearby, visit the ancient villages of Hongcun and Xidi (UNESCO World Heritage, 1 hour by bus), with impressive Huizhou architecture. Also worth seeing are Nine Dragons Valley and the North Wonder Temple; combine them in a 4–5 day tour from Huangshan City.
Book accommodation on the summit in advance for sunrise views, bring hiking shoes, water, a raincoat, and sunscreen; take the cable car to save energy. Avoid Chinese weekends because of crowds and download the official app for real-time maps.
