A coastal green haven that combines natural history and scenic beauty in El Quisco.
Canelo Canelillo Municipal Park is open 24/7, and admission is free. It is located in the commune of El Quisco, Valparaíso Region. You can get there easily by private car, intercity bus from Santiago or Valparaíso, or local transport if you are already in the coastal area. There is no exact street address available, but it is located between the two main beaches, Canelo Beach and Canelillo Beach.
Good news! Access to Canelo Canelillo Municipal Park is completely free. It is a public space designed for everyone to enjoy, with no entrance fee at all. So you can enjoy its trails and viewpoints without worrying about the cost.
To explore the park at a relaxed pace and enjoy its viewpoints and the connection between Canelo Beach and Canelillo Beach, we recommend setting aside between 1 and 2 hours. If you enjoy taking photos or simply relaxing with the views, you may want to stay a little longer.
Canelo Canelillo Park is an important green lung of the area, known for its lush native coastal vegetation, especially the canelo tree (Drimys winteri), which gives the park its name. It is a vital space for conserving local flora and offers a beautiful natural contrast with the beaches, serving as a meeting point between nature and the sea.
Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are ideal times to visit, with milder weather and fewer crowds. During summer, early morning or sunset are the best times to avoid the heat and enjoy the tranquility, as well as impressive views.
Unfortunately, Canelo Canelillo Park does not have fully adapted access for people with reduced mobility or strollers in all areas. The trails are natural and may include slopes or uneven ground. Some sections near the beaches may be more accessible, but the park overall presents challenges.
To make the most of your visit, you can enjoy the nearby beaches, Canelo Beach and Canelillo Beach, ideal for a swim or some time in the sun. Very close by, you also have the center of El Quisco with its craft market and a varied dining scene. If you are looking for something more cultural, the Pablo Neruda House Museum in Isla Negra is a short drive away.
Of course! We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking the trails, bringing water to stay hydrated, and using sunscreen and a hat, especially in summer. Don’t forget your camera to capture the beautiful landscapes and seabirds. Please help keep the park clean by taking your trash with you and respecting the local flora and fauna.
