Discover Millaneco Beach in Lebu. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
Millaneco Beach is a public space open 24 hours a day, although visiting in daylight is recommended for safety. It is located about 4 km north of downtown Lebu; you can get there by car in 10 minutes or on foot via a scenic 45-minute walk.
Access to the beach is completely free and open to all visitors. However, during the peak summer season, you may find parking fees in nearby areas managed by local residents.
For a full visit that includes walking along the shore, taking photos, and enjoying the scenery, we recommend setting aside between 1 and 2 hours. If you plan to stay for sunset or have a picnic, consider spending half a day.
More than just a beach, it is a place steeped in the legends of the coal region and Araucanian history. Its name and geography are tied to local accounts of the history of Lebu and its mining past, making it a traditional gathering place for local families.
The best time is undoubtedly at sunset, as Lebu offers spectacular sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. The ideal season is between December and March, when temperatures are more pleasant for enjoying the sea breeze.
The main access has paved areas that allow you to get close to the sand, but moving around on the beach itself is difficult for wheelchairs. It is recommended to go with assistance to handle the natural uneven terrain of the coast.
You are in a privileged location, right next to the famous Benavides Cave and the Piedra del Viento area. It is ideal to combine a visit to the beach with a tour of the caves and natural viewpoints in a single trip.
Always bring a windbreaker or a light jacket, even in summer, since the coastal wind in Lebu is usually cool and constant. Also bring your own water and snacks, as shops may not be open outside the high season.
