Augusta Traiana was founded in AD 107 by Emperor Trajan as a key administrative and commercial center in the Roman province of Thrace. Its remains reveal baths, basilicas, and an advanced urban system.
Visit in spring (April-June) or autumn (September-October) to avoid the intense summer heat. If you go in summer, choose the early morning or late afternoon.
The ground is uneven and there are no adapted ramps. People with mobility difficulties may encounter barriers. Non-slip athletic shoes are recommended for all visitors.
A 10-minute walk away you will find the Regional History Museum with Roman finds, Ayazmoto Park, and the Modern Art Gallery. More info here: Regional Museum.
