A historic green lung and biodiversity sanctuary in Shumen, Bulgaria.
The park is open 24 hours a day, every day, as it is a public space with free access. To get there, you can take urban bus line 7 to the 'Kioshkovete' stop, or arrive by car with free parking available. More info: Shumen Tourist Office
No, access is completely free. It is a public park maintained by the municipality of Shumen, ideal for enjoying at no cost.
We recommend between 1 and 2 hours to explore the main trails and viewpoints. If you plan to have a picnic or take longer routes, you can spend half a day.
Created in 1967, it was designed as the city's green lung and a symbol of urban development. Its more than 400 plant species represent the ecological diversity of the Shumen region.
Spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) are ideal for their colors. In summer, visit early or at sunset. Avoid midday in July-August because of high temperatures.
It has accessible areas in the lower section, but some upper trails are steep and have steps. The main route to the first viewpoint is manageable for wheelchairs.
We recommend: 1) Monument to the Founders of the Bulgarian State (2 km away) and 2) Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve. More options: Bulgaria Tourism
Bring comfortable walking shoes, water in summer, and a camera. Don't forget binoculars for birdwatching from the viewpoints. Check the map at the main entrance!
