Un vasto parque natural en las colinas de Lovech, Bulgaria, repleto de senderos frondosos, cuevas misteriosas y monumentos que narran siglos de historia búlgara entre bosques y vistas panorámicas.
The park is a public space open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, although attractions inside may have specific opening hours. It is located on the southern edge of Lovech, and you can easily reach it on foot from the city center or by taxi in just a few minutes.
Access to Kaylaka's natural areas and trails is completely free. However, if you decide to visit the zoo located inside, you will need to pay a very small symbolic fee at the ticket office.
To enjoy a relaxed walk around the lake and see the main rock formations, I recommend setting aside at least 2 to 3 hours. If you plan to have a picnic or visit the zoo, your visit can easily extend to half a day.
In addition to being a protected area for its karst beauty, it is home to the ruins of the ancient Roman station of 'Melta'. It is a place of great local significance that combines ancient history with the unique biodiversity of the Balkans.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons to avoid excessive heat and see the vegetation at its finest. I recommend going at sunset, when the light over the artificial lake creates a magical atmosphere perfect for photography.
The main paths and the lakeside promenade are paved and accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Keep in mind that some deeper areas of the park or secondary trails may have uneven ground or steps.
You are very close to the historic Lovech Fortress, which offers incredible panoramic views. It is also essential to cross the famous Covered Bridge by Kolyu Ficheto in the city center.
Wear very comfortable shoes because you will do quite a lot of walking, and consider eating at one of the restaurants located inside the park's caves for a unique experience. Don't forget to download your audio guide to better understand what you are seeing.
