❓ Frequently Asked Questions

When is the center open and how can I get there?

The Birdwatching Center is open every day from 08:00 to 18:00 (May-Sep) and from 09:00 to 17:00 (Oct-Apr). You can get there from Burgas by car via the A5 road (20 min) or by city bus line 15, getting off at 'Burgas Lake East'. More details on the municipal website.

Do I have to pay admission and how much does it cost?

Access is completely free for all visitors. No reservations or tickets are required. Voluntary donations for the center's maintenance are accepted.

How much time is recommended for the visit?

Most visitors fully enjoy the site in 1.5 to 2 hours. This includes time to watch birds from the towers, walk the interpretive trails, and visit the interactive exhibition.

Why is this observation center important?

It protects a key Ramsar wetland on European migration routes: more than 250 species pass through every year, including 70% of the world population of Dalmatian pelicans. It is also a scientific site for conservation studies.

What is the best season and time for birdwatching?

March-May and August-October (migration seasons) offer the greatest diversity. The key times are dawn (6:00-9:00) and dusk (17:00-19:30), when birds are most active.

Is it accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Yes: the main tower has ramps and an elevator, the trails are raised wooden walkways with railings, and adapted binoculars are available. There are also 4 reserved parking spaces.

What other attractions can I visit near the lake?

We recommend: 1) Burgas Archaeological Museum (12 min by car) 2) The Maritime Museum with aquarium (15 min) 3) the seaside park 'Morska Gradina' (tourist info).

What should I bring to make the most of the experience?

Essentials: clothing in discreet colors (avoid bright colors), mosquito repellent, and a bottle of water. Optional: your own binoculars (although some are provided) and a bird guide. Don't forget your camera!
