Un oasis verde de más de 1.400 hectáreas en Rio Branco, donde el bosque amazónico invita a explorar senderos, lagos y una rica biodiversidad en pleno corazón urbano.
The Forest Garden is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To get there, you can take a taxi or bus from downtown Rio Branco; the main entrance is on Cezar Maia Avenue, about 10 km from the airport. Check the official map on the Rio Branco City Hall website for precise directions.
Admission to the Forest Garden is completely free, making it ideal for families and travelers on a budget. No advance reservations are required, but if you plan a guided visit, there may be a small fee; check at the local office when you arrive.
It is recommended to allow at least 2 to 3 hours to explore the main trails and enjoy the natural surroundings. If you are a birdwatcher or botanist, you may want to extend your visit to half a day, but avoid rushing so you can fully appreciate the biodiversity.
Created in the 1980s as a municipal forest reserve, the Forest Garden protects Acre’s native Amazonian flora and fauna while promoting environmental education and conservation. It is a key example of how cities in the Amazon balance development with the region’s cultural and ecological preservation.
The best time is during the dry season, from June to November, when there is less rain and better visibility for walking. Aim for early morning, around 8:00 a.m., to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the morning freshness with more active birdlife.
Part of the park has paved, wheelchair-accessible paths in the main areas, but some deeper sections are uneven. It is recommended to contact the administration at (68) 3226-8000 for assistance or adapted routes, and consider renting an all-terrain vehicle if necessary.
Nearby you will find Chandelle Park, ideal for more nature and picnics, just 5 km away. You can also visit the Memorial to Indigenous Peoples or Old Market in downtown Rio Branco, reachable in 15–20 minutes by car; explore more on the official tourism website of Acre Tourism.
Bring insect repellent, comfortable hiking shoes, and plenty of water, as the Amazonian climate can be unpredictable. Do not forget your camera to capture the lush vegetation, and respect the rules about not leaving litter behind; if you are traveling in a group, hire a local guide for unique stories and insights.
