Monumento icónico en Macapá que marca la línea ecuatorial exacta, un punto de encuentro entre los hemisferios Norte y Sur donde la Tierra se equilibra en perfecta armonía.
The Prime Meridian Monument is open every day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It is located on Equatorial Avenue, downtown Macapá. You can get there by taxi, public transportation, or on foot from the historic center (25 minutes). For more details, visit the official city hall website.
Admission is completely free. You only need to consider possible parking costs if you arrive by private vehicle (approximately R$5 per hour).
It is recommended to spend between 30 minutes and 1 hour. That is enough time for photos at the equatorial circle, to see the explanatory exhibit, and to enjoy the views of the Amazon River.
It marks the exact point where the imaginary Equator line crosses Macapá. It is unique because it stands over the waters of the Amazon River, and every March 20–21 and September 22–23 the Equinox phenomenon is celebrated here with cultural events.
Sunset (5:30–6:00 PM) is magical because of the colors over the river. During the dry season (July–December) there is less rain. Avoid the middle of the day (11:00 AM–3:00 PM) because of the intense tropical heat.
Yes, it has access ramps and adapted walkways. There are accessible restrooms and enough space for wheelchairs in all areas. To confirm special services, contact +55 (96) 98837-4621.
