La Angostura Dam has no restricted visiting hours, as it is an open-air area. You can visit at any time, although daytime is recommended to enjoy the views. It is located about 6 km from Tafí del Valle, on National Route 307. The best way to get there is by private car or taxi from the town. There is no direct public transport to the dam.

For a relaxed visit, including photo stops and time to appreciate the scenery, we recommend setting aside between 1 and 2 hours. If you want to try a water activity or go hiking in the surroundings, plan at least half a day.

La Angostura Dam was built to generate hydroelectric power and to regulate the river's flow. Its construction created this picturesque artificial reservoir, which is now a tourist attraction thanks to its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. It does not have an ancient history, but its impact on the region is significant.

I also recommend visiting the Menhirs of El Mollar, ancient stone sculptures, or heading out on the surrounding trekking trails to enjoy the nature of the Calchaquí Valleys.
