The Pachamama Monument is located in a public space and is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as it is outdoors at the top of Cross Hill. To get there, the most common way is by hiking from the base of the hill (approximately 30–40 minutes) or, at certain times, by authorized tourist vehicles. We recommend checking with the local tourist office for detailed transport options: Villa Carlos Paz Tourist Office.
Not at all! Access to the Pachamama Monument is completely free. Since it is an outdoor work at the summit of Cross Hill, there are no entrance fees or associated costs to enjoy it. You simply have to get there and admire the view and the sculpture!
We recommend allowing between 1 and 2 hours for your visit. This includes the hike to the top of Cross Hill (if you go on foot), time to admire the monument, take photographs, and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Villa Carlos Paz and San Roque Lake. The view alone is already worth it!
The Pachamama Monument is a tribute to Mother Earth, a fundamental deity in Andean cultures. This particular sculpture symbolizes the deep connection and respect that Indigenous peoples have for nature, fertility, and life. It is a reminder of the importance of caring for our planet and honoring our cultural roots.
The best time to visit is during spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May), when the weather is milder and more pleasant for hiking. As for the time of day, we suggest going at sunrise or sunset; the colors of the sky over the lake and the mountains are spectacular, and the light is perfect for photographs. You will also avoid the strongest midday heat in summer.
Unfortunately, access to the Pachamama Monument can be challenging for people with reduced mobility or baby strollers. The main route is a mountain trail with some slopes and uneven sections. There are no ramps or elevators. If you have mobility restrictions, we recommend asking about adapted vehicle options or considering the view from the base of the hill, which is also very beautiful.
Absolutely! Villa Carlos Paz offers much more. Right at the base of the hill is the famous Cuckoo Clock. You can also walk along the shore of San Roque Lake, ride the chairlift for different views, or enjoy performances in the town center. Definitely. I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, bringing water to stay hydrated, sunscreen, and a cap or hat, especially if you visit during the day. Don’t forget your camera to capture the incredible views. If you go during high season, try to arrive early to avoid crowds. Enjoy the hike and the energy of the place!
