Admission is free, as it is a religious site, although voluntary donations for its upkeep are appreciated. Prayer areas are reserved for worshippers, but visitors can admire its exterior and interior architecture in designated areas.
It is recommended to allow between 45 minutes and 1 hour to appreciate its unique Saharan architecture, inner courtyards, and decorative details. If you plan to explore the surrounding historic quarter, set aside an additional 2-3 hours.
Built in the 17th century, it is a symbol of the cultural legacy of northern Algerian Sahara. It stands out for its traditional Sudanese-Sahelian-style minaret and for being the spiritual center of the Ouargla region.
From October to April, when temperatures are milder (25-30°C). Avoid June-August because of heat waves (+45°C). The early morning hours are ideal for photography and avoiding crowds.
