Audio Guide of the Sidi Boumediene Mosque and Mausoleum

The complex is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closing briefly during prayer times. It is easily reached by taxi from central Tlemcen (10 min). For public transport, check routes at ONTT Tlemcen.

Main entry is free, although there may be small fees (about 100 DZD) to access special areas of the mausoleum. We recommend bringing cash in Algerian dinars.

Allow 1 to 2 hours to fully explore the historic mosque, the mausoleum, and the courtyard, especially if you are interested in Almohad architecture and ornamental details.

Sidi Boumediene (1115-1197) was a Sufi scholar known as the 'Patron Saint of Tlemcen.' His mausoleum is one of the holiest sites in Algeria and a key example of 12th-century Maghrebi Islamic architecture.

Visit in spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) to avoid extreme heat. Mornings (8:00-10:00 AM) are ideal for photos with good light and fewer groups of pilgrims.

Dress modestly (men and women should cover their shoulders), wear shoes that are easy to remove for indoor areas, stay well hydrated, and consider using an audio guide for historical context. Respect silence in prayer areas.
