The oasis is accessible all day, but visiting between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm is recommended. To get there, the best option is to rent a vehicle in Naama (30 km away) or book a local tour. We suggest confirming updated hours with the Algerian National Tourist Office.

Access to the oasis is free, but some activities such as camel rides or guided visits to the historic ksar have a fee (approximately 500-1000 DZD per person). Check current prices with local guides when you arrive.

A full visit takes about 2 hours: 30 minutes to explore the palm grove, 1 hour for the historic ksar and ancient kasbahs, and an additional 30 minutes to enjoy panoramic views and rest in the shaded areas.

Tiout was an important strategic point during the Algerian resistance against French colonization in the 19th century. In addition, its clay ksar appeared in the film "The Son of Someone" (1953), becoming the first Western film shot in the Algerian Sahara.

The ideal season is from March to May and from September to November, with temperatures between 20-28°C. In summer (June-August), temperatures exceed 40°C. Visiting early in the morning is recommended to avoid the intense heat.

The terrain is uneven, with sandy paths and steps in the ksar, which makes access difficult for wheelchairs. Non-slip footwear is recommended, and you should check with local operators about more accessible alternative routes.

Bring enough water, sun protection (cap/hat and sunglasses), and closed shoes that can handle sand. On Fridays, some services may be limited because it is a Muslim holy day. Consider hiring a local guide at the entrance to better understand the history of the site (approximate cost: 1500 DZD).
