Donde las piedras susurran secretos de resistencia y huevos de gallina en plena batalla.
Rosuja Castle is open all day as open-air ruins, but it is recommended to visit between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM for better light and safety. From Bajram Curri, take the SH22 road north for about 15–20 minutes by car or taxi; free parking is available nearby. Check the map on Google Maps.
Admission is free, as these are historic ruins open to the public without access control. You will only pay for transport or optional guides. For more details, visit the local tourism website at Tropojë Official.
A full visit takes between 1 and 2 hours, depending on whether you explore the walls and viewpoints on foot. Include time for photos and climbing the towers. If you use an audio guide, add 30 extra minutes.
Rosuja Castle, also known as Kalaja e Rozhës, dates back to the Illyrian and medieval periods and was used as a defensive fortress against Ottoman invasions in the Tropojë region. It represents Albania’s rich cultural heritage of resistance and mountain architecture. More information at Bajram Curri on Wikipedia.
Spring (April–June) or autumn (September–October) are ideal because of the mild weather and fewer tourists; avoid winter because of snow. Go in the morning for clear views and to avoid the midday heat in summer.
Access is partially accessible: the lower area is flat, but the ruins involve stairs and uneven terrain, making them unsuitable for wheelchairs. Contact the tourist information center in Bajram Curri at +355 69 20 12345 for adapted options.
Nearby are Valbona National Park (30 minutes by car) with epic hiking trails and the village of Theth (1 hour away). Do not miss the Grunë waterfalls. Suggested route at Visit Albania.
Bring comfortable shoes, water, and insect repellent; use sunscreen in summer. Hire a local guide for authentic stories or download an audio guide. Travel with company for safety in remote areas.
