En el corazón montañoso de Peshkopi, una iglesia que desafió terremotos y dictaduras, guardando secretos de fe indomable que te dejarán boquiabierto.
The church is usually open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the tourist season, but hours vary depending on religious ceremonies. We recommend confirming with the local tourist office or by calling +355 68 123 4567. It is located in the center of Peshkopi, within walking distance of the main square.
Admission is free, although donations for the upkeep of the church are appreciated. No advance booking is required for individual visits.
A full visit takes about 20–30 minutes, allowing you to appreciate its unique architecture and iconostasis. If you would like to attend an Orthodox liturgy, plan for an additional hour.
It is the main Orthodox church in the region, built in the 19th century. It stands out for preserving traditional Albanian frescoes and for symbolizing cultural resistance during periods of religious prohibition.
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are best because of the mild weather. Avoid July and August due to extreme heat. The best times of day are early mornings (before 10:30 AM) or afternoons after 4:00 PM to avoid groups.
There are steps at the main entrance and uneven levels inside. It does not have dedicated ramps. For wheelchair visits, contact +355 68 123 4567 in advance for occasional assistance.
Within a 5-minute walk you will find: the Peshkopi Ethnographic Museum, the Llixha Natural Thermal Baths (visit-dibra.com), and the panoramic viewpoint of Mount Dajti. All of these attractions are free.
Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered), take photos only where permitted, and combine your visit with the local market (Tuesdays and Fridays). More practical information is available at Albania Tourism.
