Donde los flamencos rosados desafían a la guerra y los monjes guardan secretos centenarios
Narta Lagoon is open 24 hours a day all year round, as it is a protected natural area with no fixed opening hours. You can easily get there from Vlorë by car via the SH8 road in about 10–15 minutes; there are also taxis and local buses. Check the interactive map for precise directions.
Entry to Narta Lagoon is completely free, with no access fees. You will only pay for transport or optional activities such as kayak rental. For more information, visit Albania's official tourism website at Albania Tourism.
It is recommended to allow 2–4 hours for a full visit, including walks along the trails and birdwatching. If you go kayaking or have a picnic, it can stretch to half a day. Plan according to your pace so you can enjoy it without rushing.
Narta Lagoon is a Ramsar site of international importance because of its biodiversity, especially as a home for migratory birds and flamingos. It has major ecological value in Albania, protecting unique ecosystems since its designation in 2004. It is a paradise for ornithologists and nature lovers.
The best time is spring (April–June) or autumn (September–November) to see the greatest variety of migratory birds; avoid the height of summer because of the heat. Go early in the morning or at sunset for the best light and fewer crowds.
The main access is reachable by car up to the viewpoints, but the trails are dirt paths and are not suitable for wheelchairs. There are flat areas near the parking area for panoramic views. Contact local guides for adapted options through Visit Vlorë.
Nearby you will find Zvërnec Monastery (5 km away), the beaches of Vlorë, and Zvërnec Island. The ancient city of Orikum is also 20 minutes away. Combine your visit with a tour of the Albanian Riviera for a full day out.
Bring binoculars, mosquito repellent, water, and sunscreen; wear comfortable shoes for the trails. Respect nature by leaving no litter, and consider a local guide for bird sightings. Download the eBird app to record species.
